The components of the external frame of reference are
plotted with respect to the crystallographic axes
Axes are defined by an external frame of reference with
particular hkl poles plotted onto it from all of the crystallites
in the polycrystal
The axes define angles φ,ψ, and θ
between the crystallographic axes and the external reference axes
The specimen coordinates as well as the crystal orientation
are collected so that the position of the crystals is known
