For long fibre composites the strain
distribution is essentially homogeneous
during axial loading. The equal strain
assumption is valid and the model works
to a high degree of precision.

Region of the matrix in
'series'' with the fibres.
> high strain and high stress.
Region of the matrix in
'parallel' with the fibres.
> low strain and low stress.
The Equal Stress assumption is therefore
incorrect, but the Reuss Model is a good
approximation for the transverse stiffness
nevertheless.
