Cooper Pair Formation
In order to understand how an attraction between two
electrons can occur, we must consider the interaction with the lattice.
As an electron moves through the positively charged ion
cores of the lattice, it attracts them and causes a distortion.
Cooper Pair Formation
In order to understand how an attraction between two
electrons can occur, we must consider the interaction with the lattice.
The distortion of the lattice causes the local area to
gain a small net positive charge.
Cooper Pair Formation
In order to understand how an attraction between two
electrons can occur, we must consider the interaction with the lattice.
This attraction can overcome the repulsive Coulombic forces
and create a binding between the two electrons.
