- Spherical particles of polystyrene, with a mean diameter of 144 nm, and about a 10% standard deviation in particle size. There are regions of crystallization (to the top left and lower right), and regions of disorder (centre). The particles are slightly deformed into each other as the result of capillary forces encountered during drying.
