Applications
Discs are used for high pressure and intermediate pressure turbine discs in Trent 800/900 series gas turbine engines.
Sample preparation
Ground to 4000 Grade SiC paper and then polished at 6 mm 3 minutes, 1 mm 5 minutes, Colloidal silica 10 minutes.

Further information
This micrograph shows a high magnification image of The morphology of g' is discernible as grey ‘blocky’ precipitates, approximately 2mm in diameter. The small white particles present, due to their atomic contrast visible in back-scattered mode, are discernable as MC carbides.
